Transferring an active domain name involves changing the domain registrar that provides the domain name registration service, so after the transfer, you will have to manage things like renewal payments or DNS entry modifications through the new registrar. The transfer procedure itself is standard with most generic and country-code domain extensions. Certain country-code extensions are more specific and involve different procedures, but in the general case transferring a domain involves several basic steps and one of them is unlocking the domain. The lock is a safety option, which is being adopted by more and more registry organizations. It’s a standard feature supported by all gTLDs. If a domain is locked, it won’t be possible to initiate a transfer process, so no one can even attempt to steal your domain. The domain lock can be annulled only through the account where the domain is registered and all new domains that support this option are locked by default the moment they are registered.
Registrar Lock in Hosting
If you purchase a hosting from our company, you will be able to administer all domain names registered through us via our Hepsia Control Panel and you’ll be able to unlock any of them with only a couple of clicks. All registrations will be shown in alphabetical order in the Domain Manager section of the hosting Control Panel and for each one of them you will see a small padlock icon. Clicking on it will show you the present security lock status. If the domain name is locked and you’d like to transfer it, you’ll just need to click once more and that’s it. Locking a domain name is just as easy and since the domain names are managed in the very same place as the hosting account itself, you won’t need to sign in and out of different interfaces.
Registrar Lock in Semi-dedicated Hosting
If you have registered a domain name through our company and you’d like to transfer it away, you can quickly unlock it through the same Hepsia Control Panel, which you use to administer your semi-dedicated server account. All domain name registrations will be displayed in alphabetical order in your account and you will see a small padlock icon next to each domain there, as long as its generic or country-code extension supports the registrar lock option. You can find out whether the domain is locked or not by clicking on this icon and change the current status by clicking on it again. You can then go ahead and start the transfer straight away without waiting for the status to be updated on WHOIS lookup websites, as the update will take effect instantly without you or us having to do anything else.
